Vostok Amphibia Russian Dive Watch. Brand New, Boxed with papers. The classic Komandirskie’Tank’ dial. New soft rubber strap with white stitching. Genuine 200m dive capability. A real head-turner, conversation piece, and addition to anyone’s collection. In 1942 the Moscow Watch Company evacuated to its current home in Chistopol City. The Vostok name was adopted in the 1960s, and the Amphibia arrived in 1968. It is driven by the 31 jewel Vostok 2416b automatic movement. It has been described as being tougher than Russian steak. It has a power reserve of over 30 hours. Water resistance is 200m, achieved by superb design of the glass, which compresses and flexes as the pressure increases. At higher pressure, the case back is also pressed tighter against the seal, increasing water resistance as the watch is submerged to greater depth. Vostok watches have even travelled into space, on the wrists of Soviet Cosmonauts J W Romanenko and Georgi Grechko. The case is 27mm wide, with a thickness of 10mm and a lug width of 20mm. It can fit a wrist size up to 20 cm. The watch comes in it’s original box with papers.
