Norton 850 MKII Commando ROADSTER STEEL GAS TANK with MATCHING STEEL SIDE COVERS, Older Re-Paint to Original NORTON BLACK with GOLD PINSTRIPING PAINT SCHEME, in EXCELLENT condition. Has a beautiful high-gloss lustre, and the hand-painted gold pinstriping – although a bit worn & faded in spots – is spot-on accurate and still looks very good. Most folks won’t be able to tell that this is not a factory original paint job! The sheet metal pressings here are 100% straight and intact – there is NOT A SINGLE DENT or DING anywhere, NO RUST anywhere. Left sidecover has tool tray on the inside, mounting bracket straight & intact with DZUS fastener receiver in great shape. Inside of the tank is clean, has not been lined. PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION and LOOK CLOSELY AT ALL 23 PHOTOS BELOW! 1973-74 Norton 850 MKII COMMANDO Roadster STEEL GAS TANK & SIDE COVERS 750 Black. Original Norton 850 MKII Commando ROADSTER STEEL GAS TANK with MATCHING STEEL SIDE COVERS, Older Re-Paint to Original NORTON BLACK with GOLD PINSTRIPING PAINT SCHEME. Painted for me back in 1986 in Atlanta by John Landstrom (now proprietor of Blue Moon Cycles in Norcross, Georgia), and 30-some odd years later the paint still looks great! Yes, there are some scratches & chips as you would expect after all those years (mostly on the sidecovers), but the black still has a beautiful high-gloss lustre, and the hand-painted gold pinstriping – although a bit worn & faded in spots – is spot-on accurate and still looks very good. Equally important, the sheet metal pressings here are 100% straight and intact – there is NOT A SINGLE DENT or DING anywhere, NO RUST anywhere, not on or in the tank, not on either of the sidecovers! The left sidecover has the tool tray/pocket on the inside, mounting bracket straight & intact with DZUS fastener receiver in great shape. Inside of the tank is rust-free, but it was lined back in the late 80’s to PREVENT the formation of rust, and the lining material is starting to come loose in some spots. I used the best available aircraft-quality tank liner back then, it will NEVER dissolve or gum up your carbs, just use in-line fuel filters to catch any bits that may detach from the steel… Or, clean it with acetone or MEK. Underside of tank looks great, front & rear mounting studs straight & intact, with rubber buffers, seam is intact all the way around. Leaks or rust-through anywhere! This a truly GORGEOUS matching Roadster gas tank & sidecover set – you can mount these on your bike as-is and they will look great! CORRECT steel MKII Roadster Commando GAS TANK with MATCHING Steel SIDE COVERS, tank will fit ALL Commando frames from 1968 through 1976, sidecovers will work for 1972-73 750 models and 1973-74 MKII & MKIIA 850 models!
